For people who live in large apartment complexes bringing in groceries can be a tedious task. I’ve designed a grocery supporting strap made of cloth that is attached to the grocery bags to help alleviate some of those annoyances. The grocery strap is designed to take some of the pressure away from the fingers while carrying heavy loads.

The Problem

Carrying groceries into your home can hurt your hands and damage your food.

The People

People who live in apartment complexes where long trips are taken when loading in groceries

My Solution

A strap to increase grip and alleviate the pain that comes with carrying heavy groceries

Competitive Analysis

The Grocery Strap is most similar to the Grocery Buddy, but the major difference is that the grocery strap is designed to replicate the grip strength that lifting straps provide. The grocery strap has a carabiner connected to the end as well for easy loading and unloading of grocery bags.

Interviews

I targeted people who live in large apartment complexes where brining in groceries would require them to take elevator trips and walk long distances from their starting point to their front door.

Reflection

Grocery Buddy ended up being a great solution to help with poor grip strength while carrying in groceries. When using Grocery Buddy the time it takes to unload groceries into your home went from on average of 17 minutes to 4 minutes. If I were to do this project again, places I would look to improve my process in would be the prototype phase. It would be interesting to test different fabrics and different attachments on the strap prototype. If I were to continue this project I would like to look more in depth into the marketing of this product. That would include how to sell it, where to promote it and the pricing of making and selling it.
